As in range expanding, not mind expanding. If you are one of my (embarrassingly small number of) regular readers you know I have been on the mend from breaking my face as in my embouchure was in jeopardy of permanent damage from over practicing. Well I am back...and I am better than ever. I am pleased to announce the addition of the D above the staff and E flat above the staff to my working range. I genuinely felt like I was going to plateau right where I was and never raise the bar, it was discouraging to say the very least. Sssssshhhhh, listen...can you hear that?? What you hear are lead books calling my name. Kind of sounds like a cash register (ha ha little play on words there) cha-ching, cha-ching. To monetize your skills as a lead player you must cover a certain range or you simply will not be able to play the parts. It would be nice to have the option to be a lead player and I'm so very close I can taste it.
